Document – A Small Cinema on Bold St

Liverpool’s most prolific documentarian Tim Brunsden, was in attendance, and as usual with camera in hand. This gives a really nice introduction to the Small Cinema experience. I heard Tim just got a new Sony Z5, so keep an eye out for his upcoming work!

Thanks you again to all those who created, collated, exhibited, contributed, supported and applauded the event. You can see some photos for the day on the Re-Dock Flickr page.

A Small Cinema on Bold St is a Re-Dock project that took place as part of Abandon Normal Devices Festival and Bold St Festival. Thankyou to Liverpool City Council for its financial support.

ELVIS IN THE BUILDING!

What can I say, Elvis will be at A Small Cinema on Bold Street. Check out this fantastic trailer for the über-fantastic docu-short by the King, Tim Brunsden.

A Small Cinema is borne out of a fascination and desire to recreate the classic cinematic experience. During AND, A Small Cinema – on Bold Street is a unique short film screening event coinciding with Bold Street Festival. Artist collective Re-Dock will temporarily transform the former Rapid/Kind Charity Shop unit (next to Christian’s Fruit and Veg) into a cinema space for one day complete with smartly dressed ushers, velvet curtains, and popcorn!

During the day, there will be 3 screening programmes including a Children’s Matinee at 12pm, and 2 different public programmes at 4pm, and 6.30pm. Re-Dock have worked with Bold Street traders, collecting memories and exchanging ideas to develop and curate each of the 3 short film programmes. The shows will comprise short films from local, national and international filmmakers, cartoons and news-reels, and classic trailers comedies and cowboys – plus an interval with ice-cream!

The Small Cinema project has been funded by Liverpool City Council through the Grass-Roots Innovators scheme, enabling 4 different communities across the city to play host to ‘A Small Cinema,’ make it their own, and present it to the public.

Call for Submissions – A Small Cinema on Bold Street

Call-for-Subs_bold-St_web

A Small Cinema is looking for great new short films to show at upcoming events. The next event will be held on Sat 26th September in an empty shop unit on Bold Street, Liverpool as part of the Bold Street Festival and Abandon Normal Devices. The event is being developed by artist collective Re-Dock in collaboration with the Bold St shop traders.

Any films that deal with or loosely linked to the themes of economy, shopping and the street itself would be great, but all kinds of short films will be considered. There will be 3 screenings during the day, including a kids screening – again, films aimed at children would be brilliant.
